#OurStoryIsOne: Celebrating Unity, Equality, and a Shared Destiny

#OurStoryIsOne

Introduction: In a world often divided, there are stories that bridge the gaps and unite hearts. The #OurStoryIsOne campaign, launched by the Baha’i International Community (BIC), is a testament to the power of collective destiny and shared values. This global initiative commemorates the 40th anniversary of the execution of 10 Baha’i women in Shiraz, Iran, who were hanged for their unwavering belief in a faith that champions gender equality, justice, and truthfulness. Their courage sparked a worldwide wave of support for the persecuted Iranian Baha’i community.

Honoring the Legacy:

The #OurStoryIsOne campaign pays tribute to these 10 brave women and extends its dedication to all women in Iran, regardless of their faith or background, who have played vital roles in the struggle for gender equality. It calls for artistic contributions to honor not only the 10 but all the women in Iran who have contributed to this ongoing battle for justice.

At Women on the Move Network, we honor women whose heroism and visions have brought both change and prosperity to others in every community. This month, along with the People for Peace and Prosperity, we held an event for the Third Annual International Day of Women Celebration. This year, we recognized the Time for Change Foundation and its founder, Kim Carter.

For years, the Time for Change Foundation has very honorably empowered low-income individuals by building leadership through programs and housing to create the thriving communities we see around us. Kim Carter has worked to build this program from the ground up. She was recognized as a Top 10 CNN Hero who helps homeless women and children reclaim their lives to this day, which stands for exactly what International Day of Women encompasses and the values it stands for. On March 3, we celebrated the many steps we have taken as women to ensure that everybody receives an equal chance in life, and Kim Carter has helped to make this possible. [Read more…]
